Edward Boateng Addo
Called in 2000, Middle Temple.
Edward practices in Criminal law and Immigration.
Edward was called to the bar in 2000 and completed his
pupillage at 4 Kings Bench Walk before accepting tenancy at 7 Bell Yard. Edward
practices predominately criminal law, both prosecution and defence and has a
well established Crown Court practice. Edward is frequently instructed in a wide
range of cases including serious violent offences ranging from possession of
firearms with intent to endanger life, aggravated burglary, arson with intent
and kidnapping. He has defended in cases involving large scale importation of
drugs, conspiracy to supply drugs, people trafficking, various types of fraud
and numerous offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Court of Appeal
Edward has successfully appealed sentences and
convictions. One of his notable appeals is R v Islam. This was an appeal
against conviction. The issue was whether the codes of PACE relating to
identification applied to civilians.
In addition to crime Edward has also been
instructed by Local Authorities in a number of areas including school truancy.
Edward has been instructed to appear before
the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in various matters including asylum appeals,
appeals against the Entry Clearance Officer, family reunion, marriage and
employment applications.
When Edward is not dealing with legal
matters he enjoys playing the drums.
