Rebecca Nieto Call: Lincoln's Inn, 2006
Rebecca joined Chambers after completing a 12 month pupillage with Christopher van Hagen who is the head of chambers.
Her main practice areas are criminal and family law.
During her relatively short career she has already obtained excellent experience which has led her to undertake serious and complex work.
Most recently Rebecca has solely and successfully defended in s.18 matters and most notably been a junior to Jerome Lynch QC on the Fairfield Murder trial in Birmingham Crown Court. The case was very high profile attracting national media coverage. The defence also received funding from the LSC for Rebecca and the instructing solicitors to travel to Mexico in order to obtain a statement from a defence witness.
Rebecca also has experience in serious drugs and conspiracy matters after having been led in Bradford Crown Court on a multi count and multi handed, conspiracy to supply class A drugs which involved complex telephone evidence.
In the family law arena she has been instructed on behalf of parents, grandparents and children.
She frequently takes on pro bono matters. Recently she successfully defended an individual in an employment matter, and pursued their former employers, NCP for £15,000 in an unfair dismissal claim.
Rebecca is an active member of chambers and has been chosen to fulfil the role of ‘development secretary’ in chambers. Together with a small team they decide on the direction of education, training and marketing.
She is fluent in Spanish and has basic Italian.
