Steve
practices in all areas of Criminal Law both prosecution and defence from
driving matters in the Magistrates Court to appeals before the Court of
Appeal.
Although
the majority of his practice is in London he has and continues to appear
in cases in various parts of the country. He is currently being led in a
high profile Murder case and is the leading junior counsel in a large
scale fraud involving 15 defendants.
Steve
has defended in Murder, serious sexual offences, large scale public
order and drug importation trials. He has prosecuted in a wide variety
of cases up to a level just below QC including both armed robbery and
rape cases.
Steve’s
notable cases include being led in the first ever people trafficking
trial in the U.K (this involved a Triad gang). Acting alone in the
largest ever riot case involving immigration detainees (at Campsfield
Detention Centre in Oxford). Steve replaced a QC at short notice in a
Rape case (the defendant was acquitted)
Steve
was led last year in the largest police investigation in Bristol and the
South West for the last 15 years (according to the evidence of the
Officer in the case) which involved 9 defendants charged with conspiracy
to Murder pursuant to a contract killing.
Acting
alone for one of two defendants who set up Britain’s biggest fake
passport factory (again quoting the officer in the case, although
admittedly this time in The Daily Mail so he may have got carried away)
Steve is
happy to give lectures as part of the 7 Bell Yard lecture programme
which can be organised through the clerk’s room.
