Katriona Stanford

Katriona prosecutes and defends all forms of crime. She has been instructed in cases involving violence, dishonesty, drugs and sexual offences.
A significant proportion of Katriona’s work consists of representing juveniles and she has considerable experience of dealing with complex, lengthy or multi-handed matters. Katriona is able to give lectures to solicitors on criminal matters and has particular expertise in the area of disclosure, abuse of process, and passage of time.
Extradition is a growing area of Katriona’s practice and an area she wishes to develop and specialize in. Katriona is able to advise on all aspects of the Extradition Act 2003 and regularly appears at Westminster Magistrates' Court. Her most recent cases have involved a conspiracy to sell unlawful firearms and illegal possession of firearms from Lithuania and Kidnap and sexual assault and robbery from Poland.Katriona is able to provide telephone advice and to draft emergency applications at short notice where necessary.
In 2006 and 2007 Katriona undertook secondments to Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office. In her role as case lawyer she regularly advised on all aspects of case preparation including charging, disclosure, requests for mutual legal assistance to foreign jurisdictions and European Arrest Warrants
Katriona’s prison law practice includes adjudication hearings under the Prison Rules and advice and representation for Parole Board hearings.
